I attended my third straight MAPP Benchmarking Conference last week, October 27 and 28. A two-day event filled with industry statistics and trends, operational best practices and market forecasts, I have to say it was the best event I have been to so far. The attendance was the best I have seen which is a credit to MAPP Executive Director, Troy Nix, and his boundless energy and enthusiasm for the organization and the executive team led by President Matt Hlavin of Thogus Products Company.
But I think it is more than that. I think it is a credit to the members of the organization who are willing to share their insights and experience with other members of the organization that truly drives MAPP forward. In my humble opinion, the MAPP members who open their manufacturing facilities to other members and share their manufacturing methods deserve a lot of credit for MAPP's success.
The event is also a great opportunity for IQMS to meet with many of our existing customers who are members of this organization. We were able to show them many new features in the forthcoming release of the software, EnterpriseIQ, and show our shop floor user interface based on Android tablets, which was a big hit.
In talking to our customers, I was struck by how well the majority of them and other MAPP members are doing despite the doom and gloom of the economy. To hear that many of them are expanding their operations and opening new manufacturing facilities means that they are doing something right which is likely an affect of their involvement in MAPP.
I would also like to note how Troy is able to get the most dynamic keynote speakers year after year. Jack Daly's keynote address was excellent and the enthusiasm and insights he brought to the kickoff of the conference carried through the entire two days. I, for one, am taking many of the points that he made back to IQMS to improve our sales methodology and focus.
I welcome thoughts from people who attended the recent MAPP event. What did you think of the conference?
