Gain Industry-Specific Tools for the New Multifacturing Industry

Posted by Nicole Smith on Thu, Feb 27, 2014 @ 09:54 AM

My favorite element of the Olympics is the sense of brotherhood that the games impart. No matter a country's economic status, political conflicts or type of government rule, all issues are temporarily overlooked for two weeks when the world comes together in the spirit of friendship and respect (Well, mostly - this year does mark the 20th anniversary of the Tonya Harding-Nancy Kerrigan ice skating soap opera).

The majority of IQMS customers have plant floors that resemble the Olympics. Rather than specializing in one particular process for one particular industry, our clients' manufacturing plants offer a variety of different flavors. While  40 to 50 percent of IQMS customers specialize in producing parts for the automotive industry and 30+ percent concentrate on the medical industry, a whopping 90 percent of our customers cross multiple industry segments. It is a case of multiple manufacturing processes, or "multifacturing."

Are You Using Your ERP Software to the Fullest?

Posted by Lee Filbert on Thu, Feb 13, 2014 @ 10:20 AM

In the last year, of the IQMS customers who have been installed on our manufacturing ERP and MES solution, EnterpriseIQ, we have seen more than 50 percent of them employ outsourced or contract IT personnel. With that in mind, one of the trends that I see for 2014 is to carry this practice of contracting with experts into the enterprise software space in order to take full advantage of ERP benefits.

ERP Software and Manufacturing Industry Predictions for 2014

Posted by Glenn Nowak on Thu, Feb 06, 2014 @ 09:27 AM

IQMS does not contract with third-party VARs or outside implementation consultants, but instead employs a large staff of in-house trainers, application specialists and sales team members. These IQMS "feet on the street" spend nearly every week of the year in manufacturing plants across the globe, listening and learning about developments in our industry. This constant pulse of what's happening in the market has revealed a few common trends that we can expect in 2014. So before the shine of a new year begins to fade, let's take a look at my predictions for the coming year:

Sturgis Molded Products Company (SMP) had two choices: replace or retrofit its dated, multi-system ERP software. After weighing the costs to retrofit the old ERP system and acknowledging the number of third-party vendors it would take to fulfill the company's growing business needs, SMP decided to replace its legacy software with a comprehensive, single-source solution from IQMS. The latest IQMS infographic highlights real operational efficiencies that were gained from EnterpriseIQ that directly benefited SMP's bottom line:

Manufacturing Isn't Boring

Posted by Daniele Fresca on Thu, Jan 16, 2014 @ 09:13 AM

I recently attended a marketing conference (That might not sound as exciting to some people as it was to me and that is OK, but don’t stop reading yet). What was interesting at this conference was not only the keynote speakers and the discussions about how customers make every industry, but most importantly, it was when I walked into a session titled, "Marketing to a Boring Industry," and realized the session was completely packed. Every seat was filled! All of the attendees looked around the room and collectively thought that if you aren't selling beer or clothes that athletes and celebrities wear, then you must be in a boring industry.

A New Year, A New Product: The IQMS Shopping Cart

Posted by Jason Slater on Thu, Jan 09, 2014 @ 10:00 AM

IQMS has taken on several new exciting projects this year. As we kick off 2014, I'd like to preview the upcoming web shopping cart product IQMS is calling WebDirect B2C. This new product release will join our WebDirect line of offerings that includes our employee, customer and vendor portals. Many of our customers have seen or are already using the WebDirect B2B portal.

Let’s start by outlining that B2B stands for business-to-business and B2C stands for business-to-consumer. The name is somewhat descriptive of the difference between the two products, however there are some distinct differences in functionality. The B2B product is typically used for relationships where purchases by your customer can be made on account, on PO and/or for blanket purchases over multiple scheduled releases. In this case, you’ve already entered the user credentials and opened up access to the business user to enter the B2B portal prior to the user purchasing anything from the site and considerations such as customer-specific price breaks can be taken into account.

Keeping Employee Training Above the Red Line

Posted by Shannon Holloway on Mon, Dec 09, 2013 @ 12:53 PM

Now, more than ever, manufacturing companies are reviewing their budgets to identify areas where cuts can be made. All too often, employee training is among the expenses that fall "below the red line". However, those that consider training an investment, rather than an expense, realize that now is the time to develop employees and prepare for growth and better times to come. This is especially true when cuts have included personnel layoffs where remaining employees need the tools and knowledge necessary to efficiently do their job and take on new tasks as well.

Technical Support Part 2 - Making the Best Use of Each Call

Posted by Shannon Holloway on Tue, Oct 22, 2013 @ 07:39 AM

In my last entry, I discussed the benefits of using technical support and the importance of handling issues promptly to maintain user support and morale.  So now that you are calling support, allow me to address a few key things you can do, as the user, to expedite any support call regardless of the issue.  At IQMS, we consider each support call as an opportunity to partner with our customer and identify the best possible solution to the challenge at hand.  Where the issue and outcome are dynamic, the means by which we get to each solution are often the same.  The key to resolving any support issue is information.  Likewise, the lack of information, or worse yet, wrong information can be the bottleneck of even the most basic support call.
