Hellllooooooo, Las Vegas! I have been waiting weeks for the arrival of User Group 2014 and finally, after two years in the making, it is here! And let me tell you, Day 1 did not disappoint - It was a whirlwind of networking, learning and fun. If you were unable to attend User Group 2014, let me give you a quick peek into what you missed today:
IQMS Blog for Manufacturing ERP Expertise
We at IQMS get the pleasure of dealing with manufacturing businesses on a daily basis. My whole career has been dedicated to the manufacturing industry and I have always enjoyed walking through a busy plant. Getting high utilization and maximum efficiencies out of constrained resources has been a lifelong goal of mine, regardless of what product is being produced.
I recently read an article written by the CEO of LinkedIn, Jeff Weiner. His tone and opinion on the people he enjoys working with resonated with me. It got me to thinking about the qualities and traits of the ideal Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist. My observations come from working with some of the best QA Specialists in software.
In the EnterpriseIQ customizable desktop dashboard, Smart Page, IQMS users can configure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that allow users to display a dashboard full of multiple charts. This analytics tool allows a user to quickly glance at the performance of the same user-defined metric without running reports that often take time to prepare and additional time to read. Many of our users display these KPIs in a slideshow on the shop floor to help their employees identify problems quickly. The KPIs paint a nice picture that is easy to understand, with visualize variation that may not be as evident in tabular spreadsheet or report form.

Ever take a quiz to find out what "kind" you are? For example, what kind of sports fan, boss or cookie are you?
What do you get when you combine an innovative manufacturer with a progressive ERP software automation team willing to push the boundaries of shop floor control? Competitive advantage, increased efficiency and a match made for the future.
Every day, we spend a lot of time looking around for things in our lives and if you think about it, we waste a lot of time doing this activity. Yes, some of us have routines that we stick to (trust me, I am guilty of that), but there are times the routine just does not work. For example, we try to always put food in a certain place in the cabinets and make sure that our keys are on the hook, etc. But as humans, we have our moments where we fail in this due to something else taking its place or we just get rushed. Unfortunately, many of us are all too familiar with that moment of panic when we realize the keys are not where they belong and so we must play everyone’s favorite game: Hide and Seek. Now take a moment and think about the manufacturers out there who are doing this on a massive scale in their warehouses.
The Master Scheduler. Production Planner. Lord of the Shop Floor Calendar. By whatever title you call your employees in charge of the production schedule, this position is critical to the success of your plant. Your manufacturing business lives and dies by the effectiveness of your master production schedule, making the role of scheduler an unenviable position. It requires a deft hand and comprehensive knowledge about every work center, job type and operator on the floor, leading some to consider the process of advanced planning and scheduling as more of an art than a science.
From straightforward pallet wrapper applications to complex and robust distribution systems, automation has a foothold in the competitive, modern manufacturing environment. Through applications that integrate seamlessly into your enterprise software solution, manufacturers are soliciting and creating custom programs that make production faster, easier and more accurate.
